This is the new amazon.com home page.
Even if there are small changes between the two versions, the main concern I have is related to the missing information previously shown below the product images, like brief description, users’ rating, price and prime.
So users are forced to move their mouse cursor over the image to show up the tooltip with the needed information.
Let’s compare with the old one, still available on other countries, like mine, Italy.
Secondly the page is too much crowded; users’ brain are too much busy in recognizing the images, and trying to distinguish one product from another one.
Are you a smartphone expert? Can you recognize each mobile device in the list below? I can’t!
Two simple solutions:
1. keep the home page less crowded and reintroduce the caption like in my proposed version of the home page.
2. keep less crowded the home page using smaller images – more white.
